Hi! I’m Sophie - and this Substack feels like going back to my roots. After 13 (!) years of blogging, it also feels like a safer space to share more personal topics without the broader judgment the internet can bring. I feel as though those of you who are here are genuinely happy to be - this can be a private community of us, an open conversation and inner-most circle.
Why Substack now, you ask? To be honest, it’s largely because I’ve become an avid Substack reader myself. I look forward to sipping my morning matcha whilst scrolling through my Substack posts. Connecting with my Instagram followers and like-minded women has by far been the most rewarding experience of my career, and I feel this can be an extension of that.
Why Philosophie? It was the first original name I came up with for my blog in 2011, before changing tunes. Using it for Substack feels like going back to my love of writing, and that butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling of hitting “publish” and wondering if anyone other than my best friends and family will read it. The name feels fitting to the way I approach life - I’ve always been someone to live by my own rules and embrace my own style preferences, even if it’s not “on trend” or what others are into. I like to infuse beauty and substance into my home, my clothes, and everything I do in life. I live by that philosophy.
So, a reintroduction? I’m a 33 year old native Angeleno, living in the hills of Los Angeles with my husband Christophe. We were married in Lake Como in 2023 and have been together for over ten years - but so much has changed in that time. We bought our home in 2020 and fully gut renovated it, which sparked my love of home design. I’ve been full-time creating, or digitally “influencing” (cringe term) since 2012 and it truly is the perfect job for me.
I’d describe myself as creative, intuitive, feminine & thoughtful. I’m “the calm friend,” the one to ask for advice, and I’ve been told I’m much sillier than I appear online. (some people interpret my personality as reserved, but once we’re friends, you can’t shut me up!) My weaknesses include Hu dark chocolate, and like a true Pisces, *vastly* overthinking things.
You can expect more in depth personal updates, travel plans and itineraries, what I’m eyeing and buying each month, and some longer styling Q&A’s. I’m open to suggestions - join the conversation.
To say it’s been a wild start to 2025 would be an understatement - between the January fires of LA, packing and evacuating our home, and feeling like life re-started again in February, there were a lot of changes and surprises. However, I’m eagerly anticipating what the rest of the year will bring, and excited to take you along with me!
5 Things I’ve Purchased Last Month:
Marlo Laz necklace - you may have peeped this on my IG, but for my 33rd birthday this year I bought myself this “Porte Bonheur” charm necklace. You can customize them with your birthstone or favorite gem and engrave the back.
Ref polo tee - Sporty, spring vibes.
Ginori vase - I’ve been leaning more and more towards pops of color in the home (a change from when we originally furnished in neutrals) and I find this special piece so beautiful.
Bombas slippers - Christophe lives in the men’s version of these at home, and I’m newly converted - they’re the best for cold mornings.
Aerin heart frame - I framed one of my favorite wedding photos in this sweet frame and it’s on my bedside table.

I love that polo! Just purchased!
